Descripción:Tamika Huston was a young African American who disappeared in 2004, and her body was not found until summer of 2005. Her case brought to light the fact that minorities are largely overlooked by the national media. The fact that she was murdered by a boyfriend is not the purpose of this video. Tamika needs to be remembered because all life is precious. -- This slideshow contains various pictures of Tamika, her family and friends, and case pictures. Background music are Exodus, I Miss You, and Midnight Cowboy. --- Please remember a bright young Soul who had a lot going for her. Rest in Peace, Tamika ....

Descripción:After the piercing screams from next door stopped, Francisco Landavazo dozed off. Then came the pounding on his door. Outside stood the neighbors' three young children, who said their San Jose home was burning: Inside their mom's corpse was on fire. Several hours later, police said, her boyfriend flagged down the California Highway Patrol on the Golden Gate Bridge and told officers he had killed her. Barry Anthony Monroe, 40, was booked Thursday night on suspicion of homicide in the woman's death and faces more charges in the stabbing and burning of another woman at the downtown San Jose home. Thursday's bizarre story unfolded just before dawn in the 1000 block of East Taylor Street, a residential area of mostly single-family homes. "I heard the dogs barking and a lot of screaming and then all of a sudden it stopped," Landavazo said. "The kids came over banging on the door saying their house was on fire and I said, 'Where is your mother?' " Apparently, Tameka Austin, 31, was already dead at the house she shared with her three children, two boys and a girl, and a female roommate. Landavazo said Monroe practically lived there, too. "I was always telling her what was she doing with him. I didn't really like him, he didn't have a job or a car," Landavazo said. "He would babysit the youngest." As the house burned at 2 a.m., the roommate, burned and bloodied with non-life threatening stab wounds, ran across the street, nocking on doors at the Villa Apartments, screaming for help. "She was dragging herself from door to door," said Tina Amador, who was awakened by the woman's screams. "She was saying she was dying, and moaning, 'Somebody call 911, somebody talk to me.' She then just laid down." Amador called 911. When police arrived, the distraught woman directed police to the Taylor Street home, where officers found the city's 21st homicide victim. Fire crews responded and quickly knocked down the flames. When the violence started, both women were inside the house, along with three children, San Jose police officer Enrique Garcia said. The children were taken to a hospital because of smoke inhalation. Garcia said the suspect is believed to have set the house and both women on fire. Thursday evening, workers began boarding up the four-bedroom home, where the fire had blown out the windows. Inside, the house was charred and in shambles. Remnants from the family who lived there were still visible; photographs strewn across the floor of Austin and her three smiling children; a child's wallet laying on a twin mattress; and a book titled, "Black America," by Monica A. Smith. Louis Wang, who rented the house to Austin, said she had lived there for two years and had once lived in Chicago. "She was very nice, very quiet, paid her rent on time," Wang said. As far as he knew, she was the only one who lived there with her children. But neighbors say she had taken in a roommate and Austin's boyfriend stayed there months on end. Wang said he believed Austin worked at Valley Medical Center. Garcia said the manner and cause of Austin's death will be determined after an autopsy performed by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.

Descripción:RePrintPrint E-mail Font Resize Stab victim says she wakes up seeing 'fire and his face' RECALLS HARROWING EVENTS THAT LEFT HER FRIEND DEAD By Sandra Gonzales Mercury News Article Launched: 08/05/2008 01:33:08 AM PDT All Maia Porter really remembers of that harrowing morning are scattered snapshots: playing cards, laughing, drinking shots. Then suddenly, waking up to fire, with lighter fluid being poured over her body. Her friend, Tamika Austin, lay next to her, already dead. Austin had been stabbed twice and lit on fire by a man police say she had been dating. Telling her story for the first time in a video posted to YouTube, Porter described how she survived the wild morning of violence that left her bloodied, stabbed and with third-degree burns on July 31. "I made it," Porter said. "I still wake every hour. . . . I see fire and his face behind it." Monday, Barry Anthony Monroe, 40, appeared in Santa Clara County Superior Court for the first time, charged with Austin's murder, four counts of attempted murder and one count of arson. Monroe is suspected of stabbing Austin, 31, twice then setting her body on fire inside her home on East Taylor Street in San Jose. He also stabbed and set fire to Porter, who was found by police one block from the house, investigators said. "He left Austin's three children in the burning house when he fled," Sgt. Anthony Mata wrote in a court statement. Austin's eldest child, 10, grabbed his two sisters, 9 and 3, and ran next door to get help. Porter was released from the hospital Monday night. "It's just painful," said Porter in a brief interview with the Mercury News. Her father said, Advertisement "it's a miracle" she's alive. Don Sanders, Porter's cousin, who made the YouTube clip, said contrary to early reports Porter was not Austin's roommate, but a good friend. In the 10-minute video, Porter recalled only snippets of that night. She, Monroe and Austin were playing cards, laughing, drinking shots. She then blanked out. The next thing she knew, she woke up in a dark living room on the floor with Austin at her side. "I see fire, flames. I'm like, 'The house is on fire,' " Porter said. "I tried to get up and he pushed me back down and then I tried to get up again and then he started swinging and punching me. I started blocking my face, then I fell down again." Monroe, Porter said, then threw lighter fluid on her. Her leg caught on fire. "I burned my hands trying to put the fire out. Then he went to Tamika, he put a lot on her." At the time, Porter said, she was talking to Monroe, trying to calm him down. When he went to the back of the house, Porter said, she made her escape. She ran to apartments, asking for help. Finally someone opened a door and told her they called 911. "I didn't even know I was stabbed. That's why my lung collapsed." She remembers waking up in the hospital with stitches above her left eye. "I didn't find out she was dead until the next day. We have no idea, no clue why he did it, maybe it was something personal between them."

Descripción:My cousin and her friend were attacked by a punk who is a coward......Suspect Arrested In Bizarre SJ Fire, Murder Case CBS 5 CrimeWatch SAN JOSE (CBS 5 / KCBS / AP /BCN) ― A suspect was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a bizarre murder and attempted murder case that stemmed from a morning house fire, San Jose police said. The man, identified as 40-year-old Barry Anthony Monroe of San Jose, was booked for homicide after turning himself into California Highway Patrol officers near San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge about 1 p.m., SJPD Officer Enrique Garcia told CBS 5. Firefighters responding to a one-alarm fire early Thursday discovered a dead woman's body burning inside a home where a second woman had been stabbed and injured and two children suffered smoke inhalation. Police said the death was the city's 21st homicide of the year. The murder victim - identified as 31-year-old Tamika Austin - had apparently been stabbed and then set on fire, according to authorities. An autopsy was planned to confirm the cause of her death. The fire was reported around 2 a.m. at 1049 East Taylor Street in a quiet neighborhood east of downtown. It was contained by 2:52 a.m. The stabbed woman, who police said was covered in blood, was expected to survive her multiple wounds, Garcia said. She was hospitalized along with the children found at the home. Detectives said earlier in the day that their investigation was focused on finding on one particular person in connection with the fire, homicide and attempted murder. Police later indicated that the suspect, Monroe, had been dating the murder victim, Austin. The woman who survived with stab wounds was Austin's roommate, but her identity was not released. The relationship of the two children hospitalized was not immediately clear. East Taylor Street between 21st and 23rd streets was blocked Thursday for much of the day while police continued to investigate at the crime scene. (© CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved. Descripción:This is last time anyone will see a video of Tamika Austin a.k.a Peaches alive. The rapper Doc Louie from East Palo Alto nick named her that when she would act sassy. She liked the name, tonight she was Peaches and full of life. We are at Straight Gutta Records and studio. We had just left foxes trying to film my video IN DA CLUB "Goin Ay Ay" But Gram the owner got in argument and shut it down and it never got finished. We planned to put this is the video because we didn't have enough footage. The video had all kinds of problems and we never really did the way we wanted. But Tamika was down to come get in the show and film and she was down wit us all. She had a lot of love and life. You'll see her dancing and just chillin wit us. I grew to love her very quickly and it had been a priviledge to know her and share love with her. It was Tellie and Mz. Silky, Lakiba, Me (blackbook) and Allegra. It had been Tellie's birthday and he was pissed off for me. He wanted my first video yo come out right like his had been. Later we came to realize God was calling me to more conscious hip hop. We partied until late that night and more footage of this night will follow.
