Descripción:Tom Waits and Donna Gordon as the stripper,
Performed for us live (at the La Brea stage in Hollywood, 1978), and rotoscoped - a process that traces back the live action
frame by frame and turns it into animation. The original live
action was shot with 5 cameras - 2 high, 2 low and one hand
held. The music from "The One That Got Away" blared in the
background as Tom sang karaoke style different lyrics on each
take. Two strippers, Donna Gordon was the choice, 6 takes and 13 hours of video footage were edited to make a 5 1/2 minute live action short which we turned into animation. A total of 5,500 frames were caricatured and then re-drawn, inked by Mike Cressy and painted by hand onto celluloid acitate to produce this film.
Produced by Lyon Lamb, directed by John Lamb, the film bore some cool new technology, talent ( David Silverman, producer and director of the Simpsons TV series, and director of the NEW Simpsons movie to be released in July of 2007, was our head animator and also his FIRST job as an animator) and was created specifically for a video music market that didn't yet exist . But
the buzz was out and we went on to create what arguably may be the first music video created for the new and upcoming MTV market.
A series of unfortunate events prohibited the film from ever
being released or sold commercially, consequently catapulting it into obscurity... until now, thanks You Tube!
In 1979, an Academy Award was presented to Lyon Lamb for the
technology used in this short.
The production materials (character sketches, layouts,
storyboards, animation drawings and cels) are still amazingly intact and held in private hands. However, a few of the production elements managed to slip away over the last 28 years and occasionally, one of these rare gems can be found on ebay.
To learn more about this amazing lost film, go to ....TomWaitsLibrary.com and Wikipedia.

This Stop Motion Animation takes you into another world. In this world no physical laws count. The only laws that count are the laws of the Animator.
I animated myself through my house and the city of Breda, the Netherlands. It took me 6 months to complete. That is mainly because of the weather. It wasn't always suitable to shoot my scenes.
The song I used is called Chinois by DJ Aphrodite and can be found on the record Aftershock.
Enjoy! I would like to know what you think about it.

2005 OSCARS for Best Short Animation
Ryan is based on the life of Ryan Larkin, a Canadian animator who, 30 years ago, produced some of the most influential animated films of his time. In the film, we hear the voices of prominent animators and artists discussing Ryan's work, and from waitresses, mission-house caretakers and homeless people who make up Ryan's life. These voices speak through strange, twisted, and disembodied, computer-generated characters--which combine to reflect the film's creator, Chris Landreth. In the words of Anais Nin, "We don't see things as they are. We see things as we are."
Some strong language. Viewer discretion is advised.

some friends asked me what programs i used, I might just answer it here:
The animation is created with graphic tablet drawn straight into Flash (8), layout is done in Photoshop, additional effect (lens flare) is added in After Effect, and finally export from Windows movie maker just to make the animation small and easy for submission. the whole process is done in my 5 and half years old pc ^_o i'm somehow proud of its age and loyalty.
The reason I use Flash is because I don't have light box and enough paper, scanner at home, Flash is time saving way to make animation myself with few other friends.
Ps. Flash is a program for creating web animation, interactive things and websites, motion graphic, usually use with Illustrator and other vector programs. FBF animator like me only used 5% features of Flash.
as Rosi suggested, I created this new account only for our Warrior cat_into the wild animations.
The account will be decorated soon.
I know spotted leaf isn't white, but somehow me and Rosi imaged her a white cat before realizing that she isnt. ^^ll I think I'll keep her white in these animations.
This is my first time shading my animation, and first attempt to animate cats fighting, there are still a lot need to improve in my future works.
subtitle will be both English and Chinese, voice will be English.
Directed by me (Yuji/badasi) and Rosi, Animation assistant Zing. I'll make a list of audicians once the 1st episode is finished.

Lyrics:
Gettin' born in the state of Mississippi
Poppa was a copper and'a momma was a hippie
In Alabama she was swinging hammer
Price you gotta pay when you pick the panorama
She never knew that there was anything more than poor
What in the world does your company take me for?
Black bandana, sweet Louisiana
Robbin'on a bank in the state of Indiana
She's a runner, rebel and a stunner
On her merry way saying baby what you gonna
Lookin' down the barrel of a hot metal .45
Just another way to survive
California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah
She's a lover, baby and a fighter
Should've seen her coming when it got a little brighter
With a name like Dani California
Day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya
A little lotus she was stealing another breath
I love my baby to death
California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah
Who knew the other side of you
Who knew what others died to prove
Too true to say goodbye to you
Too true, too say say say
Push the fader, gifted animator
One for the now and eleven for the later
Never made it, Up to Minnessota
North Dakota man was a gunnin' for the quota
Down in the badlands she was saving the best for last
it only hurts when I laugh
Gone too fast
California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah
California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
Yeah, yeah

Descripción:In this animation I was trying to recreate realistic sword movements, but the animation also deals with the theme of mercy although it wasn't the main focus. It also includes my first ever attempt at flash! (so don't be too harsh on it and yes I know it's very quick but it was only a test!)
Now for some film notes:
- For the Stop Motion section I took 747 pictures which is just over 31 seconds of film, but due to the difficulty of capturing realistic sword movements I cut a total of 101 pictures (so in actual fact I took 848 pictures).
- A lot of people have been asking what the swords are or where I got them from. The red clayman has the 'Masamune' (Auron FFX), the purple clayman has the 'Caladbolg' (Tidus FFX) and the green clayman has 'Lion Heart' (Squall's Gunblade FF8). You can buy them (or find where to buy them) from here: http://www.square-enix-shop.com/usa/dsp_product.cfm?product_id=102
General FAQ:
- I use an oil-based clay called Belgrave but it's only sold in Australia.
- I film at 24fps
- I use a Canon M700i DV Camcorder connected to my computer through a firewire cable.
- I use Stop Motion Pro V6 HD to make my animations. Go to http://www.stopmotionpro.com to check it out.
- All the sound effects in this movie were obtained from http://www.soundsnap.com
