Descripción:Great songs from late 1980 and 1981 that didn't hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but are number one in my heart. from Wikipedia: "Waiting for a Girl Like You" achieved an odd chart distinction by spending a record-setting 10 weeks in the #2 position of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, without ever reaching the top. This was in no small part due to Olivia Newton-John's single "Physical", which was a #1 hit for ten weeks. At the time, Newton-John's run was one week short of the all-time record. This series supplements the "oldies but goodies time sweep of number one hits" series.

Descripción:A Special Lady Part 4 A Special Lady DVD: Brazil 2003, Multimedia Group AA1500, Australia 2004, Umbrella DAVID0343 Produced by Thames Television UK in 1983, this musical extravaganza features a selection of songs, featuring Richard Clayderman and Robert Goulet. Musical Director Michael Alexander. Programme produced by Keith Beckett. Sleeve Note From the Australian Release Shirley Bassey needs no introduction, she is truly one of the greatest in the entertainment business whose unwavering appeal spans more than four decades, many generations, and fans spanning to the corners of the globe. Shirley belongs quite rightly to a tiny handful of international artists whose popularity refuses to diminish. In this concert, recorded for English TV in 1980, Bassey delivers a stellar performance and invites special guests Robert Goulet and Richard Clayderman to join her on stage. Richard Clayderman Biography, By Craig Harris, All Music Guide With his lush, sophisticated, instrumental, approach to pop music, Richard Clayderman (born: Phillipe Pages) is, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, "the most successful pianist in the world." Clayderman's albums routinely sell millions of copies and his concerts are quickly sold out. In a review of his 1985 Carnegie Hall concert, Variety wrote, "(Clayderman's) main appeal lies in his youth and boyish good looks...coupled with his gentlemanly charm and his thick French accent, they promise to rope in the romantically inclined middle-aged Yank ladies who cotton to this ilk of soothing entertainment." Nancy Reagan referred to Clayderman as "the prince of romance." Instructed in classical piano by his father, Clayderman enrolled in the Paris Conservatory of Music at the age of twelve. Four years later, he placed first in a piano competition at the school. Despite his classical background, Clayderman opted for popular music when he launched his professional career. A tour as opening act for French rock musician Johnny Hallyday introduced him to an international following. Clayderman's debut album, Ballade Pour Adeline, recorded at the urging of producers and composers Oliver Toussaint and Paul De Senneville in 1977, sold more than twenty million copies and was distributed in 38 countries. Clayderman, who took his stage name from his Swedish grandmother, has continued to tour throughout the world to enthusiastic audiences. A live concert, broadcast on Chinese television in 1987 attracted more than 800 million viewers. He's Out Of My Life Written by Tom Bahler. Released on the 1982 album All By Myself. Shirley Bassey performed this song live with Richard Clayderman in the TV special A Special Lady in 1983. Michael Jackson had the female version of this song, "She's Out Of My Life", on his album "Off The Wall" from 1979. With this song he reached position number 10 in the US Billboard 1980. It has been said that this was an overwrought version of this song. Lyrics He's out of my life He's out of my life And I don't know whether to laugh or cry I don't know whether to live or die And it cuts like a knife He's out of my life It's out of my hands It's out of my hands To think the two years he was here And I took him for granted I was so cavalier Now the way that it stands He's out of my hands So I've learned that loves not possession And I've learned that love won't wait Now I've learned that love needs expression But I learned too late And he's out of my life He's out of my life Damned in decision and cursed pride I kept my love for him locked deep inside And it cuts like a knife He's out of my life (Transcribed by Roman)

Descripción:After signing with Columbia Records, Cheryl Lynn (born Lynda Cheryl Smith, 11 March 1957, in Los Angeles) released her self-titled debut album, Cheryl Lynn. Produced by Toto keyboardist David Paich, the LP featured her first and biggest hit, Got to Be Real which was penned by Paich and Lynn, and has since been called one of the defining moments in disco. The song peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #1 on the R&B chart. Lynn would score subsequent successes with such songs as 1979's Star Love, 1981's Shake It Up Tonight, 1984's Encore - which was written and produced by the Minneapolis funk duo, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and 1989's Every Time I Try To Say Goodbye. Cheryl also provided the female backing vocal on the single, Georgy Porgy, by the pop-rock band Toto, from their 1979 debut album. Although the band charted more than a dozen pop hits throughout the years, it was Lynn's vocal on "Georgy Porgy" that aided the group in charting their one and only R&B (#18) and Dance (#80) hit on Billboard. Lynn released her last album to date in 1995. Entitled Good Time, it was released in Japan, the UK and later in the United States as an imported CD.

Descripción:From L.T.D.'s 1980 album "Shine On" The last L.T.D. Album where Billy and Jeffrey Osbone were a member of L.T.D. There were lots of gr8 songs on this album but this was my favorite when i first heard the album :) ..... Since the group's first national hit "Love Ballad," Jeffrey Osborne had been the featured vocalist for LTD. However, this recording would be his last one with the group before pursuing a solo career. This album spawned two upstanding singles -- "Where Did We Go Wrong" and "Shine On" -- the fomer being a rhythmic ballad enhanced by some stylish background vocals, leaving Jeffrey Osborne substantial space to demonstrate his commanding vocal ability. In spite of having all the right ingredients to attain that number one status, the single peaked at number seven after 20 weeks on the Billboard R&B charts. It would be the group's last single to crack the Top Ten. The latter composition is arranged with noticeable crossover appeal augmented by Osborne's crooning vocals; the single peaked at 19 before fizzling out after 18 weeks.
