Story:
Edison was a new student to Gillian and Charlene's school. Gillian and Charlene were best friends. They both fell in love with Edison, but Edison didn't pick either one during that time.
After they graduated, many things happened, and their love for Edison still continues to grow. Gillian, Edison, and Charlene remembers the good times and their bad memories. Edison, being in the middle, suffers from choosing those one out of two.
Time passes. He decided and chose Gillian. Edison returned something really important to Gillian, meaning returning her their "memories." But, Charlene was there, and saw them. She got really angry.
After a while, Edison took Gillian on a date, and leaving Charlene behind with only a dog's company.

Two years have passed and Edison is now in New York while Gillian is in Hong Kong. Time flies as they find themselves still reminscing on their highschool love. They both miss each other dearly. Numbers have changed, addresses have been moved. They are left with no way to contact each other. When Edison decides to come back to look for Gillian, it seems as if she has gone somewhere else already. As he returns to their spot by the beach, he is greeted with nothing but sand and water. There was no Gillian in sight. All that remains is a single note left in his hand containing the words he's been meaning to give her for so long. "Gill, I miss u. Love Ed."

By the way, here is my opinion about the recurring theme of all your comments ^^
I truly believe that GA&DD relationship can not be categorized as "they are in love" or "they hate each other".
I think you can love somebody without being in love, without wanting to spend your whole life with this person.
And when Gillian says "We have had to be in each other lives in a very powerful way" or when David says "When I play a scene with Gillian Anderson, there are always little looks between us which mean 'what do you think about what's happening?' It's a little as if we have secrets between us. Everything is conveyed by communication beyond words. Perhaps, after all, you could interpret that as love", they make it perfectly clear. They do not deny that there's something special b/w them, something that nobody, except them, will ever understand..
So, some of us call it love, others call it friendship, admiration, respect, gratefulness or whatever, but actually it doesn't really matter, coz obviously none of us is right, it's definitely more than that.
It's just a hunch and maybe I'm wrong, but if I'm not, I think it's a very beautiful story, coz this strong, intense and long-lasting relationship haven't stopped them from living their own lives and being happy this way, and as far as we are concerned, making us happy with Mulder and Scully.
Because one thing's for sure, this amazing chemistry b/w Mulder & Scully, couldn't have existed without that relation b/w GAⅅ and I'm under the impression that the X-Files wouldn't have become (one of) the most successful TV show of the 90's ;)
