Descripción:EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - There are 'no skating' signs posted all around Heritage Park Pond in East Longmeadow, but that didn't seem to bother the people on the ice.
One skater telling 22News, he lets other people try it first. "Well I kind of wait for someone else to go on the ice first. If I see there are other people on it, and if there's skate marks on it, I know people are skating on it," said Steven Moore of East Longmeadow.
The DPW has not determined the ice safe for skating. On Saturday, a 59 year old man from Middleboro died when he fell through thin ice at a Middleboro pond.
East Longmeadow Police Sgt. Robert Driscoll told 22News that once DPW crews measure the thickness of the ice, and it is determined to be safe, the pond is approved for safe skating.
When 22News first told Sgt. Driscoll about the people skating on Heritage Park Pond, he sent police officers to the pond to get them off what could have been thin ice.

Descripción:Greenfield, Mass. (WWLP) - Now that the snow has stopped falling, the cleanup begins, but two storms in three days made things difficult for local Departments of Public Works.
Drivers say two storms back to back have made taking to the roads tough depending on where you're driving. "Its not bad on the highway, after you get off the highway its gets a little rough," said driver Scott Le Foll.
Even though crews were out plowing much of the day the snow kept building on roads in Greenfield, the traffic only made things worse as they helped pack snow down and spread it onto already plowed roads.
Back to back storms meant it wasn't long after roads were cleared that the next snow started coming, bringing plow workers right back out again.
DPW Field Superintendent Jim Garanin says its been a long three days of plowing, "the crews are tired, everybody wants to stay home, go to bed, but they can't they keep coming back and we really appreciate the workers but in these conditions coming in to help isn't really another choice. There's no option you have to clear the street." Drivers safety depends on it.

"Marley and Me"
(WWLP) - "Marley and Me" is no one dimensional Disney fluff about a pugnacious pooch.
Instead, "Marley and Me" satisfies you as a far more richly rewarding experience.
It's a serious comedy that plucks at your heartstrings as it tickles your funny bone. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston plan their lives together without a clue as to the joys and heartaches down the road.
Their lives will never be the same once they adopt Marley into the family. Theirs is a bittersweet relationship as Marley sort of grows on them as this sweetly sentimental picture grows on you.
When you realize how much substance there is to this movie, it's ironic that as Marley grows out of puppyhood, into a really large and assertive pooch.
Wilson's also coming to terms with his maturity. Although he doesn't tear up the rug and devastate the furniture, his growing pains can be just as clumsy.
When you realize the producers thought enough of "Marley and Me" to cast Alan Arkin, the best character actor in the business as Wilson's crusty boss, you can tell they had confidence in this movie. Apparently Marley isn't just man's best friend at home; he's also a creative inspiration.
"Marley and Me" makes you feel all the joys and heartaches that come with giving yourself over to your pet.
The tears and laughter flow freely enough to generate 3 stars. Let's throw Marley an extra bone just for stealing your heart.

Starring: Meryl Streep, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, Viola Lewis
(WWLP) - Get ready for Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman detonating tons of dramatic dynamite together, and of that there is no "Doubt".
The only question is whether Hoffman is the pedophile priest that the Sister Streep strongly suspects he is.
Their mutual hostility intensifies the intrigue concerning his motives at St. Michael's school. It's the early 1960's, a time of innocence about such matters.
Is Father Flynn just a warmhearted clergyman sympathizing with an unhappy outcast? Streep isn't buying any of it. She can only envision the worst. Hoffman's coyness only adds to the tension building power of this conflict.
Amy Adams lands the plumb role of the naïve nun whose got serious doubts about Streep's feelings of absolute certainty.
"Doubt" resonates with the mystery of a well crafted psychological thriller. And thats exactly what it is, a dark mystery that refuses to unravel simply through the sheer brute force of their clashing personalities.
Since "Doubt" was originally a stage play, the larger than life characters explode on a small, intimate scale. and in a truly powerful scene, Viola Lewis, the boy's mother, gets caught in the middle of Streep's obsession.
There's no doubt about it. The marvelous performances, along with the controversial subject and the engrossing storytelling all merge into a solid three stars. You won't "Doubt" this gripping movie for a moment.
